Patient airlifted following one car crash on Route 217 in Mellenville

Columbia County 911 dispatched Mellenville Fire fighters and Greenport Rescue at 9:39am for a reported one car accident on Route 217, near Fish and Game Rd in the town of Claverack. The vehicle struck guardrails, trees and a utility pole. A LifeNet helicopter was placed on standby and later requested to the Claverack Town Park on Church Street. The lone occupant of the vehicle was flown to Albany Medical Center by LifeNet 71. State Route 217 was closed during the incident. The accident is under investigation by the Columbia County Sheriff's Office.
